Welcome to episode 86 of the LJS Podcast where today we are talking about the modes of the melodic minor scale and how you can use them to improvise over 7 different chords. This type of minor scale is called "melodic" because is it easier to sing; there is no augmented 2nd interval. If it had six, there would be a “gap” somewhere. This is mode number 5 of melodic minor. 5 – Memorize the whole-half step formulas for the major and natural minor scale.
